It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have already been conquered.

This is the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batsmen to possess a record if never given the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to deliver her newest gem.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her bow and seven international trophies have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

Whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this innings followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in training, it's been a disappointing period because it seemed my form was missing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the right-hander was underway.

"An opportunity to play and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was out the team needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the belief to do that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this tournament should hear.

In recent days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this triumph coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

During that phase they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have pushed back plans to retire, this tournament is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a global event as skipper.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
